Year 4 : Vertical Village

The project was located in Leith, a town in Edinburgh. Leith played an important role in the history of Edinburgh and a pioneer in development of mass housing in Edinburgh. The problems in the community arose as it was gentrified in the 1970s, and old buildings were being demolished. The studio was aimed to provide a solution for the community to reserve the memories and celebrate the plurality of the place.

The timeline shows the development of Leith from 100 years ago which describes how gentrification and transportation shaped the community.

Survey on daily transportation in Leith

A simple survey had been done in order to study the habit of teenagers in Leith to help with the design of master plan and their point of view on cultural facilities.

Perspective section

A detail section shows the construction detail and distribution of rooms of the proposed spacen in site context.

Openness of space

A hybrid office design allows different zoning to minimise distraction by maintaining their close proimity. The proposed space followrf the openness of space to maximise productivity and increase level of collaboration.
